- Quando Khvicha Kvaratskhelia è arrivato per la prima volta al Napoli, quali erano le tue aspettative? Avresti immaginato una sua stagione a questi livelli? Conoscevi prima questo giocatore?
“Sapevo che si trattasse di un giocatore di talento, ne avevo già sentito parlare molto bene, ma è chiaro che l’impatto straordinario che ha avuto con il campionato italiano nessuno poteva prevederlo. Sin dalla prima amichevole pre campionato ebbi la sensazione che fosse un fenomeno e così è stato”.
- Consideri l'acquisto di Kvaratskhelia il principale trasferimento del Napoli degli ultimi tempi?
“Assolutamente si. Solo il Napoli ha creduto nelle sue potenzialità, lo seguivano da tempo e sono stati bravi a prenderlo ad un buon prezzo. Di sicuro è stato uno dei migliori colpi di mercato degli ultimi anni”.
- La gente in Italia era sorpresa che un calciatore che ha giocato nel campionato russo potesse giocare così?
“Il calcio è uno solo. Se sei bravo fai la differenza in Italia come in Russia o in Brasile e in Argentina. Non c’è stato nessun retropensiero legato al campionato russo”.
- Dopo le prestazioni di Khvicha, gli italiani hanno iniziato a seguire il campionato russo e i giocatori della Russian Premier League?
“Probabilmente qualche interesse maggiore c’è stato, ma non è ancora conosciuto il campionato russo in Italia”.
- A Napoli, Khvicha viene paragonato a Maradona, i tifosi gli hanno dato il soprannome di Kvaradona. Non pensi che sia troppo presto per paragonarlo a una leggenda del genere?
“Maradona resta unico è irraggiungibile per chiunque. Kvara ha il suo modo di giocare, è un campione e in qualche movimento ha ricordato Diego per questo gli è stato dato il nomignolo Kvaradona, ma sono due giocatori diversi per ruolo e carisma”.
- Si vociferava che Khvicha potesse trasferirsi al Real Madrid. Quanto pensi sia realistico che il Napoli venderà Kvara a un club come Real Madrid, Barcellona o Bayern in futuro?
“Magari in futuro il Real Madrid potrebbe pensare a lui, ma per quest’anno resta a Napoli. Si parla di rinnovo al doppio dello stipendio attuale, non è poco dopo 1 anno”.
- Khvicha è in grado di vincere il Pallone d'Oro in futuro secondo te?
“Se si conferma ai livelli dell’ultima stagione, può ambire alla vittoria del Pallone d’oro in futuro, ma deve continuare a fare bene per altre stagioni, magari sempre con il Napoli”.
- I trasferimenti dalla Russia alla Serie A sono ancora possibili adesso? Secondo le tue informazioni, il Napoli adesso è interessato ai giocatori russi?
“Da quello che mi risulta il Napoli non ha mostrato interesse negli ultimi tempi verso calciatori russi, ma mai dire mai”.
- Come valuteresti il livello di Aleksey Miranchuk? Vorresti che diventasse un giocatore del Napoli? Perché non è riuscito a trovare spazio nell'Atalanta?
“Miranchuk è un ottimo calciatore, nell’Atalanta ha fatto molto bene. Potrebbe fare anche al caso del Napoli ma l’Atalanta valuta sempre tantissimo i propri calciatori”.
- Kokorin è il principale fallimento del calcio italiano degli ultimi tempi? Come è successo che sia finito alla Fiorentina? Cosa pensano le persone in Italia di Alexander Kokorin?
“Le attese erano sicuramente maggiori, in Italia non ha impressionato tantissimo”.
- La gente in Italia conosce un allenatore come Leonid Slutsky? Ha allenato Khvicha al Rubin Kazan. Slutsky dice che è stato lui a rivelare il talento di Khvicha.
“Se ne è parlato poco di Slutsky, sicuramente è stato importante nella crescita di Kvara che però ha delle qualità innate che non vanno nemmeno allenate troppo. È’ imprevedibile nelle giocate”.
- Se Khvicha non fosse stato allenato da Spalletti, ma da un altro allenatore, si sarebbe affermato ugualmente al Napoli?
“Spalletti è stato un padre per tutti i calciatori del Napoli. Inizialmente chiedeva alla stampa di non focalizzarsi troppo su di lui per farlo esprimere al meglio senza troppe pressioni. Non so come sarebbe andata con un allenatore diverso da Spalletti, di sicuro
kvara ne ha tratto beneficio”.
- Come cambierà la posizione di Khvicha con il nuovo allenatore Rudi Garcia?
“Credo che Garcia lo utilizzerà sempre a sinistra nel 4-3-3, non penso che gli cambierà posizione”.
- Nell'autunno del 2021, lo Spartak Mosca ha battuto due volte il Napoli in Europa League. I napoletani sono stati sorpresi dallo Spartak? Qualcuno si aspettava un risultato del genere contro quella squadra?
“Si, fu una sorpresa. Ricordo anche la mancata stretta di mano tra Spalletti e Rui Vitoria, furono due partite storte per il Napoli”.
- Quale squadra russa è la più popolare in Europa? Zenit, Spartak, CSKA, Lokomotiv o qualche altro club?
“Questi 4 club sono tutti abbastanza conosciuti, probabilmente negli ultimi anni si è parlato un po’ di più dello Zenit per la presenza di Spalletti sulla panchina”.
- Dopo la revoca del divieto internazionale, i club russi saranno in grado di vincere contro i club europei o sarà molto difficile per loro? Quando pensi che i club russi torneranno nelle competizioni europee?
“Il calcio è sempre aperto a qualsiasi risultato. Noi diciamo che il pallone è rotondo… Per quanto riguarda il ritorno dei club russi nelle competizioni europee immagino che, alla fine della guerra, potrebbe esserci un’apertura in tal senso”.
- A che livello pensi sia ora il campionato russo? Può essere incluso nella Top 10 d'Europa?
“La Russia è tra i Paesi più estesi del mondo, di sicuro può crescere nel calcio”.
- Quale giocatore russo che gioca in Europa è migliore secondo te? Golovin, Miranchuk o qualcun altro?
“Golovin merita stima, però penso che Miranchuk abbia qualche tocco imprevedibile in più”.
- Hai una storia personale legata a Khvicha che puoi condividere? In caso contrario, puoi semplicemente dire che impressione ti ha fatto come persona? Quando abbiamo parlato con lui in Russia, ha dato l'impressione di un ragazzo molto modesto...
"Kvara è un ragazzo molto timido e riservato. Lascia parlare il campo. Ricordo quando 6 mesi prima del suo arrivo a Napoli vennero i suoi agenti a Castel Volturno, accompagnati dall'intermediario ed ex campione del mondo Cristian Zaccardo, per chiudere la trattativa col Napoli. Io ero li' per intervistare in esclusiva Lobotka per "Napoli Magazine" e gia' in quell'occasione si parlava benissimo di lui".

- When Khvicha Kvaratskhelia first came to Napoli, what were your expectations? Could you imagine that he will spend the season like this? Did you know this player before?
“I knew he was a talented player, I had already heard very good things about him, but it is clear that the extraordinary impact he has had on the Italian championship, no one could have predicted. Since the first pre-season friendly, I had the feeling that he was a phenomenon and so he was”.
- Do you consider the buying of Kvaratskhelia the main Napoli's transfer in recent times?
“Absolutely yes. Only Napoli believed in his potential, they had been following him for some time and were good at signing him at a good price. It was certainly one of the best transfer shots in recent years”.
- Were people in Italy surprised that a footballer who played in the Russian Championship could play like that?
“Football is one. If you're good you make a difference in Italy as in Russia or in Brazil and Argentina. There was no afterthought related to the Russian championship”.
- After Khvicha’s performances did the Italians start to follow the Russian championship and players from the Russian Premier League?
“There has probably been some greater interest, but the Russian championship in Italy is not yet known”.
- In Naples, Khvicha is compared with Maradona, the fans gave him the nickname Kvaradona. Don't you think it's too early to compare him to such a legend?
“Maradona remains unique and unattainable for anyone. Kvara has his own way of playing, he's a champion and in some movements he reminded Diego that's why he was given the nickname Kvaradona, but they are two different players in terms of role and charisma”.
- There were rumors that Khvicha could move to Real Madrid. How realistic do you think it is that Napoli will sell Hvicha to a club like Real Madrid, Barcelona or Bayern in the future?
“Maybe in the future Real Madrid could think of him, but he's staying in Naples for this year. There is talk of renewal at double the current salary, not just after 1 year”.
- Is Khvicha capable of winning the Ballon d'Or in the future in your opinion?
“If he confirms himself at the levels of last season, he can aspire to win the Ballon d'Or in the future, but he must continue to do well for other seasons, perhaps always with Napoli”.
- Are transfers from Russia to Serie A still possible now? According to your information, is Napoli interested in Russian players now?
“From what I understand, Napoli hasn't shown interest in Russian players lately, but never say never”.
- How would you rate the level of Aleksey Miranchuk? Would you like him to be a Napoli player? Why did he fail to gain a foothold in Atalanta?
“Miranchuk is an excellent footballer, he did very well in Atalanta. He could also do for Napoli but Atalanta always value their players very much”.
- Is Kokorin the main failure of Italian football in recent times? How did it happen that he ended up at Fiorentina? What do people in italy think about Alexander Kokorin?
“Expectations were certainly higher, in Italy it did not impress much”.
- Do people in italy know such a coach as Leonid Slutsky? He coached Khvicha at Rubin Kazan. Slutsky says that it was he who revealed Khvichi's talent.
“Little has been said about Slutsky, he was certainly important in the growth of Kvara who, however, has innate qualities that don't even need to be trained too much. He is unpredictable in plays”.
- If Khvicha had not come to Spalletti, but to another coach, would he have also opened up in Napoli like that?
“Spalletti was a father for all Napoli players. Initially he asked the press not to focus too much on him to make him express himself without too much pressure. I don't know how it would have gone with a coach other than Spalletti, for sure Kvara benefited”.

“Yes, it was a surprise. I also remember the failed handshake between Spalletti and Rui Vitoria, they were two bad matches for Napoli”.
- Which Russian team is the most popular in Europe? Zenit, Spartak, CSKA, Lokomotiv or some other club?
“These 4 clubs are all quite well known, probably in recent years there has been a little more talk about Zenit due to the presence of Spalletti on the bench”.
- After the International ban is lifted, will Russian clubs be able to win European clubs or will it be very difficult for them? When do you think Russian clubs will return to European competitions?
“Football is always open to any result. We say that the ball is round… As for the return of Russian clubs to European competitions, I imagine that, at the end of the war, there could be an opening in this sense”.
- What level do you think the Russian championship is now? Can it be called the top-10 of Europe?
“Russia is among the largest countries in the world, it can certainly grow in football”.

“Golovin deserves respect, but I think Miranchuk has a few more unpredictable touches”.
- Do you have a personal story related to Khvicha that you can share? If not, can you just say what impression did he make on you as a person? When we talked to him in Russia, he gave the impression of a very modest guy.
"Kvara is a very shy and reserved boy. Let the field do the talking. I remember when 6 months before his arrival in Naples his agents came to Castel Volturno, accompanied by the intermediary and former world champion Cristian Zaccardo, to close the deal with Naples. I was there to interview Lobotka exclusively for "Napoli Magazine" and already on that occasion there was much talk of him".
